The Merakan are a humanoid species and subject race to the Draconian Empire.
In their past, they were an agrarian species who were nearly conquered by a race known as the Baarikans before they were saved by the Draconian Empire. In exchange for their protection, the Merakans agreed to join the Draconian Empire as field commanders, administrators and diplomats. However, a resistance force opposed this and fought for their freedom.
During the Draconian War, the Merakans were freed by the Terran Federation at the Battle of Merak.
